The real difference
Vedic astrology works in planets in signs and houses, measured against the fixed stars. Qi Men Dun Jia works in a nine-palace plate for the hour of the question. There is no direct translation between the two, so they are better used as separate readings than merged into one.
These answer different kinds of question. Vedic astrology reads your birth and describes something stable. Qi Men Dun Jia reads the moment you ask and speaks to one decision. Comparing their conclusions directly is a category error.
Which should you use
- Vedic astrology if your question is about timing, through planetary periods.
- Qi Men Dun Jia if your question is about one specific decision, right now.
- Both if you want to know whether a theme holds up when the machinery changes. That is the only thing reading two systems buys you, and it is worth more than it sounds.
