The eight methods compared

Eight systems, one person. They disagree because they were built in different places and centuries to answer different questions, and because two of them do not read your birth at all.

Eight readings of one person

One birth, 15 June 1990, 07:30, Hong Kong, run through all eight:

MethodReadsSays
BaZi 八字Year, month, day and hour of birth, as stems and branchesDay Master 辛, yin Metal
Zi Wei Dou Shu 紫微斗數The lunar date and hour, placed on twelve palacesLife Palace 寅 with 七杀 (Seven Killings), Earth 5 bureau
Vedic astrology 吠陀占星Sidereal planetary positions and the rising degreeLagna in Gemini, its lord Mercury in the 12th house
Western astrology 西洋占星Tropical planetary positions and the rising degreeAscendant in Cancer

Numerology 數字學The birth date, reduced arithmeticallyLife Path 4, carrying karmic debt 13
Qi Men Dun Jia 奇門遁甲The moment a question is asked, not the birthAn hour plate in the 陽盤 rotating-plate tradition
Da Liu Ren 大六壬The moment a question is asked, not the birthA 三傳 sequence derived by the 《六壬大全》 method

Six read the birth. Two read the moment a question is asked, so their results describe a question rather than a person. That split matters more than any argument about which tradition runs deeper.

Why they disagree

The clearest case sits between the two astrologies. Western measures from the March equinox and Vedic from the fixed stars, and the two zero points have drifted about 24 degrees apart. For this birth that is the difference between a Cancer and a Gemini ascendant. Same sky, same instant, different answer, and neither is a mistake.

The rest disagree for a simpler reason. They were built in different places and centuries to answer different questions, and there is no dictionary between elements, planets, palaces, gates and numbers.

What Meridian does with that

Meridian casts every applicable method from one set of birth details, highlights the themes that recur across them, and keeps the disagreements visible rather than averaging them into something comfortable.

Recurrence is a signal rather than a verdict. When systems with nothing in common point the same way, that does not make either true. It does mean the reading is not an artefact of one method's machinery.

Cast your chart in every method

Both headline results computed by Meridian's engines on 2 August 2026 from one identical birth: 15 June 1990, 07:30, Hong Kong. The engines are deterministic, so the same input returns the same chart.

This page compares how two systems calculate. It does not interpret a chart and is not advice.
