Zi Wei Dou Shu or Western astrology: which should you read?
They answer different questions. Zi Wei Dou Shu is strongest on reading separate areas of life on their own terms. Western astrology is strongest on psychological pattern and motivation. Run on one identical birth they do not contradict each other so much as describe different things.

The real difference
Both divide life into twelve compartments and mean quite different things by them. Zi Wei places stars into palaces by calendar rule; Western places planets into houses by the horizon at your birth. The number twelve is a coincidence.
Both read your birth, so both describe something stable. Neither will tell you whether to act this week.
Which should you use
- Zi Wei Dou Shu if your question is about reading separate areas of life on their own terms.
- Western astrology if your question is about psychological pattern and motivation.
- Both if you want to know whether a theme holds up when the machinery changes. That is the only thing reading two systems buys you, and it is worth more than it sounds.
