The eight methods Meridian reads, and how to choose one
Eight systems, built in different centuries on different assumptions. They are not eight opinions on one question. They answer different questions, at different resolutions, and reading all of them is useful for a specific reason that is worth being precise about.

Meridian uses the first six primarily as natal methods and the last two as moment-based ones. That split is how Meridian routes a question rather than a rule about the traditions. Qi Men has natal schools, BaZi is widely used for date selection, and a practitioner working in one of those lineages is not doing it wrong. Each reading names the form it used.
For a question about a specific meeting, Meridian starts with a moment-based method. A natal chart can add personal timing context, but it is a different calculation answering a different question.
What the Meridian Method adds
Running eight charts and printing eight readings is not synthesis. It is eight readings, and a reader left to reconcile them.
When more than one method applies, Meridian highlights the themes that recur across them and preserves the material disagreements instead of forcing a single answer.
Recurrence is the useful signal. When a Chinese calendrical system and a sidereal astrology system built two thousand miles and several centuries apart point at the same trait, that agreement is not evidence that either is true. It is evidence that the reading is not an artefact of one method's machinery. That is a narrower claim than it is usually given, and it is the honest one.
Why this is not automatically better
The opposite is the standard sales pitch, so here is the case against.
- More methods only help when each is computed faithfully. Breadth over sloppy charts is worse than one chart done properly. Meridian treats multiple methods as a cross-check rather than a vote, and does not count repetition as proof.
- Depth in one tradition is real. For a question rooted in a single system, a focused reading from someone who lives in that system may serve you better.
- The traditions genuinely disagree. Flattening a conflict into a comfortable summary loses the most interesting information in the chart, so Meridian keeps disagreements visible instead of resolving them for you.
- Agreement is not accuracy. Methods can share an assumption and be wrong together, which is why convergence is reported as a signal rather than a verdict.
How to choose
- Asking who am I? Start with BaZi. It is the densest birth system and the one most other Chinese methods assume.
- Asking about one area of life? Zi Wei Dou Shu separates domains into palaces, so it answers narrow questions better.
- Asking when? Vedic periods or BaZi luck pillars.
- Asking why do I keep doing this? Western astrology and Human Design speak the psychological register more naturally.
- Asking should I, about a specific decision, now? Qi Men Dun Jia or Da Liu Ren, as Meridian applies them. Neither needs your birth data in this form.
- Not sure, or want the cross-check? That is what the Meridian Method is for.
Every reading names the methods it used and the ones it skipped, with the reason. A method that cannot be computed is reported, never quietly swapped for another.
